Used Tractor Tires Save You Money

If you have a small farm or some rural country acreage then you probably own a tractor to bush-hog grass - dig or fill in holes with dirt and dig post holes for new or replacement fences, etc. Occasionally you will run over a piece of steel or something that will cause a flat. You call the local tractor dealer and ask for a replacement price. $500.xx for a new tire - The next question you should ask is what does a used tractor tire cost?

You can usually get a full set of used tractor tires for the price of one new rear tire. This is also a perfect opportunity to change the types of treads and the size of the tires as well. Taller and bigger mud grips mean more traction and safety for you.

If you currently live in Texas, you are in luck as this is the state probably has the largest inventory of used tractor tires, than any other state in the union. Rural communities have them by the truck loads, and deals for small or large tractors tires are made daily.

How to Find Used Tractor Tires Cheap

The logical place to look for used tractor tires is the local tractor dealer like John Deere or International Harvester Dealer. But if you take the time and do a little online research you can find even better deals through craigslist.org or ebay.com. An individual seller is usually more motivated to move their product and get the cash in their hand. Just make sure they are local or shipping will eat up your savings.

Also check with neighbors out in rural areas - They may have a set sitting in their shop or barn ready to go and for a cheap price as well. Next time you are at the feed store - check the community bulletin-board - you may find a hand-written ad for a complete set of new tractor tires for the price of some used ones.

When driving around on those back roads keep an eye out for tractors in the middle of the field that don't look to old but have grass and weeds growing up around them. The engine may be blown and the owner just decided to park it and let it rot. If it hasn't been to long the tires may still be operational. He may tell you if you want to take tractor off then you can whatever you want from the tractor. Then trailer the tractor to the local implement dealer and see if he wants to buy the tractor minus the tires.
